Ted and MABAS, you guys crack me up. Making a huge deal about erasing history and tradition because they changed the colors…the history still exists, in picture form, its not erased. I guess, every department should be all red since that was what color nearly every horse drawn steam engine was…
My understanding is the department as a whole got together and decided to change it, from the top down. That’s taking pride and ownership in your department. Good work Westmont, especially because it is hard to have that much pride with part-time departments

Sometimes I wonder if Milwaukee is pondering a color change as well.
Several hydrants around here are now painted a combination of forest green and red. Not a bad combo and I could see it but not holding my breath either.
Then again, I never thought I would see Wauwatosa depart from a lime green beginning in the early ’10’s to black over red. they had been lime green since the mid 70’s. I think they still have a reserve rig that is limey.

They also have a new engine coming that was ordered at the beginning of this year.

This engine I believe is a 2016.
As far as I’ve seen, Engine 182 has been repainted. The Ladder and Squad have not been.

Historical identity and tradition unfortunately doesn’t matter in the fire service anymore. So is Wesmont going to repaint and re-stripe their other 2 engines, truck and squad? A total waste of money in my opinion.

Does anyone know what year this pierce is and who painted it?

its sad that another traditional change with paint color has occurred, they went from all red in the mid to late 60’s and were pretty consistent up until this change, except for the pembfab engine they bought as a demo in 77 that was lime green, but when it was refurbed it was repainted white over red. Just want to replace history, and doesn’t seem to matter anymore….

better than white over red and better than gray over red

What year is this engine? What else’s is there to say, other than another department going with the Chicago color scheme
