Anyone know of or have any idea if Norwood park fpd is considering replacing engine 102 (2001) or truck 104 (93) in the near or far future?
Thank you.

Cmk420, you’re right. We’ll all find out where the new rig is going once it’s in service. But there is nothing wrong with Harry asking before hand. I’m just looking forward to seeing the new huge ride for Sandwich!

I’ve had minor disagreements with Harry but why do you fault him for the interest? I used to subscribe to FIRE APPARATUS JOURNAL until recently and the late Jack Lerch wrote the FDNY column. He was known to be a walking database for everything FDNY because he dug in and asked questions. I don’t want to compare people here but I’m sure Harry has much of the same mindset. As for me, I never really had the desire to go around to ask such questions for fear of being a pest so I try to dig around on the internet or wait until open house type events. So please, try to see it from his POV.

Harry–I don’t see why you need to ask PW where the new rig is going. Why is it so important to you to know these things?? Asked this in the past, but it bares a repeat. What is your endgame?? I still can’t believe these people would just give this information to you without knowing who you are.
Just because Quint 83 is the oldest front-line rig doesn’t mean it’s going to be the next one replaced. It’s a quint, not an engine. They ordered a new engine, which in my personal opinion, means it’s going to Station 82 because that’s the oldest front-line engine; however, just as in the case with Chicago’s new rigs or any other department’s new rigs, we won’t know where it’s going until the number goes on the rig. Your guess may be right or my guess may be right or it’s going to be some thing else completely. Let’s all just wait and see.

Palatine’s new engine will become Engine 83, Current quint 83 will become reserve and current reserve quint will go away.

Which Engine will the new Northbrook Engine replace? Will it replace Engine 12? Or are they going to replace Engine 11 and send the Squad back to Station 12?
What Truck will Rockford be replacing? They just replaced 3 trucks within the last two years. Will it replace truck 7? Or Truck 2?

I agree with cmk420 on this.
E81 2014 Ferrera Igniter
E82 2011 Spartan/Crimson
E84 2019 Pierce Enforcer
Reserve engine 2007 spartan/Crimson

when I first going to palatine to take pictures of the pw fd and pd vehicles 81 had a quint and now is the reserve since getting the new ferrera then e 82 is a 2011 or 2012 spartan making 83 the oldest frontline however when I call at pw I will see if fleet maint. knows where the new rig is going

Harry–that doesn’t make sense!! Palatine is one of the departments that I followed closely when I use to live & work out there; they regularly run two aerials–Tower 85 and Quint 83, with a spare quint at 83. Unless something is changing over there, or you have “inside knowledge,” this new engine will probably go to Station 82 to replace the engine there & they will rotate accordingly. I could be wrong, but only time will tell.

I would guess palatine fd new engine will replace 83 quint which will then become a spare for the truck and the former 81 quint will be sold that would make sense
