7 rig was renumbered to 64 after 64 was involved in that accident with 64. 64 has the new rig. Saw it yesterday on Cicero Ave.

That’s what happens when they try to cut costs spec components not designed for HD work. I was told also that the RAM chassis was garbage because of suspension issues but the powertrain was fine.

The Rams has issues with not being able to adjust camber and caster for front wheel alignment and they were basically overweight once the box was put on. Put the box on and the front wheels had a lot of float since you couldn’t adjust them. Plus they don’t do alignments after putting the box on those chassis. You need to put that in the spec when you build/ purchase an ambulance.

The problem with the Ram’s wasn’t the manufacturer it was the really poor choice of the suspension that the city specced. The F-450’s are supposedly “a bit better.” The bottom line is whatever chassis they go with they need to get a really good liquid spring suspension. The scuttlebutt is that the city is supposedly going to swap out the suspension on the Ram’s. We’ll see but not holding any breath.

A55 caught fire in the box at st. Bernard’s shortly after it was delivered. Thank god the RAM experiment is over. Worst ride ever. Absolute garbage

Marty – Was A55 exposed to fire on a job or did it catch on fire? What was the extent of the damage?
Is the city done purchasing the Rams?

There were two of the Rams’s that were wrecked/damaged. A55 (fire) and A46 (accident). Both boxes were remounted. This was A46’s old box. The other one, 55’s box was originally lettered for 7 but was re-lettered for A64. Not sure if it is in service yet.

So this isn’t part of a new/continuing order, what happened to the identical rig for A7 that someone shared a photo of here back in October-ish?
