I noticed the Skokie village board notes are from May 16, 2019 and it is over seven months later. When is the job supposed to be completed? As of now Skokie Truck 18 is still using the reserve tower ladder.

Harry based on how long the previous rigs were in service it really isn’t saying very much for front line service. Reserve Tower 17 was in service for about 21 years which if applied to the current Truck 18 would have it taken out of service in 2022. The 1988 Pierce was only in service for 13 years but was in reserve for 15 additional years before being replaced by the 1995 tower ladder.

I would say 5-6 years would be a good guess because prior to the new tower 16 in 2016 there ladders were 1988 1995 and 2001 now they are 1995 2001 and 2016

My guess is it will give them 5 at the most.
My guess is since rescue 17 was replaced in 2018
It is now their oldest front line rig?

I wonder how many more years it will give them to have that truck in first line service; 2 years, 5 years? Skokie put money into rigs before but they still didn’t last more then a couple of years. I believe their current reserve ladder, the 1995 Pierce tower ladder had some work done a few years before it was replaced. Skokie generally keeps most of their apparatus in service about 20 years and then theu put the ones that they keep into reserve status.

still cheaper than a new truck
