Sugar Grove Fire Protection District news

Excerpts from the kcchronicle.com:

Sugar Grove trustees on May 7 approved plans for a firefighter training facility. The Sugar Grove Fire Protection District will build the facility at the rear of its property at 25 Municipal Drive. Under the special use and height variance trustees approved, the village will allow the training facility to be 22.5 feet high on a paved area and to be composed of shipping containers, with two stacked on top of three others.

The village will restrict the facility’s hours of operation to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and require that the exterior stairs be secured when the building is not in use.

Lake Zurich Fire Department news

Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:

Firefighters rescued six ducklings from a sewer Thursday afternoon in Lake Zurich and reunited them with their mom after a resident called to report the ducklings were trapped in a sewer at 235 S. Rand Road.

Firefighters removed one manhole cover and were able to reach five of ducklings. The sixth duckling had walked down a sewer pipe, so firefighters had to remove a second manhole cover.

The ducklings’ mother had a nest nearby.

This from Michael Maida:

I had the opportunity to drive by the old and new Elk Grove Village Station 8.  I saw Engine 8 leaving on a 911.

This from Larry Shapiro:

I was in Elk Grove Village on Wednesday and stopped by the two new fire stations to grab some photos. The landscaping was just beginning at Station 10, but Station 8 was largely completed in the front. All of the rear bay doors have a second set of screen doors that run on the same track as the solid overhead doors. One can be seen in the photo. This allows a breeze into the station while still securing the station from intruders and debris blown around by the wind.
