Stone park also had Former Berkeley/Yorkfield 1996 Ford Medtec type 1 as a reserve ambulance..

So here is a rumor and only a rumor. I heard that Stone Park MIGHT be interested in Lyons 1989 pierce lance. Old 1311. But I really don’t know what there plan is.

So, obvious question–if something goes down for any reason, and they have no reserve equipment, what happens? Do they have an agreement with a neighboring department to borrow a rig?

Is Stone Park in financial duress? In the past few years they sold a reserve ambulance, the Humvee and now this engine is up for sale. Does anyone know if Stone Park is planning on purchasing another engine?

HERE YA GO RUSTY
“The R.D. Murray Company was a Hamburg, New York fire apparatus manufacturer founded by Ronald D. Murray in 1973. The initially company made its mark refurbishing fire apparatus and moved into the manufacture of complete fire apparatus in the early 1990s.
In 1998, R.D. Murray was purchased by American LaFrance and built pumper and rescue bodies. The plant was closed in 2008 or 2009 as ALF ran into financial difficulty. A former owner purchased the plant and entered into an agreement with E-One Inc. and now builds stainless-steel bodies for the Florida manufacturer.”

Previous post on this site suggested this may be where Chicago’s new apparatus will be built.

If memory serves me right, the Seagrave Flame was also an emergency purchase. I believe the rig before this was wrecked.

Does anyone have pictures of the 97 Spartan/RD Murray? Can anyone tell us about RD Murray? I’ve never heard of them.

This was a demo that was more or less an emergency purchase as the Seagrave was quite a problem child. It really was not a good fit for what was needed and that is why the 97 was bought it was a low mile and in immaculate shape from and East coast department. The 97 better suited what they needed being a smaller department.

#22 by CrabbyMilton on April 18, 2019 - 6:09 AM
Nice looking E-ONE. Very distinctive look about that one.
#23 by Cmk420 on April 18, 2019 - 12:05 AM
