The Squad will go to fires/incidents in EP as well. But it follows the other apparatus. The truck does in fact carry extrication equipment. The Squad also carries extrication equipment plus tools, saws, ropes, water rescue equipment.

Thanks for the very informative information. So the key to running with additional apparatus in Oak Lawn is having four on the truck. That allows them to run a 2nd ambulance or with the squad on box alarms. They are still able to keep the truck in service with the remaining two that normally would be on the truck.
So the squad is used mainly for out of town extra alarms. In regards to extrication runs where spreaders, airbags, and struts are needed, is the truck equipped for that or do two from the truck respond with the squad?
Thanks again.

The EPFD runs daily with Battalion 4, Engine Company, Ambulance and Truck Company; Truck Company will man the second ambulance if a second ambulance is required. They also respond to any working fire within MABAS 21 with the Command Van 677. The MABAS 21 Air Unit will reply as requested as well as the Squad based on the Box Cards.
There is also Auto Aid back and forth between EP, Oak Lawn and Hometown. Especially with the truck.

Evergreen runs a 10 man shift.
3 on the engine
2 on the frontline ambo
2 on the truck
2 on the back line ambo(jump to the truck for fire calls)
1 in the car
They have auto aide agreements with oak lawn engine 1 and BC 1 and HT Engine 466 through the entire village.
In town fires it is not uncommon to see the whole fire house respond by call back personnel

Bill they are part time with many of their guys and especially officers are Chicago and Orland guys. They also get regular assistance from Hometown and Oak Lawn

Bill–A friend of mine told me that Evergreen Park runs 2-12 hour shifts a day. They staff two ambulances, an engine, the truck and the battalion chief on a regular basis. The crew, of the 2nd ambulance, doubles as a jump company for the snorkel squad or whatever is needed. I am not entirely sure the total amount of staffing per shift. From what I was told, if they get an in-town fire, they dump the entire house (Command Van, a light truck, 2nd engine, etc.) with guys coming back.
Not sure how accurate the information is, as I got it from a friend who has a buddy on EP.

From what I read Evergreen Park is a paid-on-call department. If that’s the case does the squad run with a regular complement of men or is it a jump company? How many companies does Evergreen Park normally run with and how many people are on duty? Is there a minimum amount on duty at the station and then do the rest respond to the station? I would figure that they at least have enough people at the station to run an ambulance, an engine, and a truck plus perhaps a shift commander. Most departments are pretty lucky to run with a manned squad so that’s why I wonder if it has a crew assigned to it?

Of course it’s a cutaway for the boom. I wasn’t going to tell anyone that. LOL

Any reason why they went away from the Snorkle Squad designation? I loved the old SS3 and felt it was a great throwback to classic CFD. The Rosie is beautiful and looks well thought out.

The cutaway on the body is necessary to allow the boom to not have to go full vertical. It was a design flaw on the CFD ACP’s that has been corrected by cutting the top of the body down as seen on this new one.
The ACP is awesome! Good for EP keeping a very necessary and tactically superior type of apparatus available at least in the near south and sw suburbs.

You guys have it all wrong. They’re not trying to be like Chicago….they’re trying to be more like Oak Lawn. You guys remember Oak Lawn Squad 1 the old Ward LaFrance? It had a similar body design where the top of the body dropped down shortly after the cab. 🙂 I think it’s a great design. Very sharp.
