I would have much rather repaired the tower and run it as a quint than sell it and buy a used engine that could also have hidden issues and wear. With Robbins being only a mile square, it shouldn’t have over milage it. Most Robbins fires are defensive attacks anyway and the tower is perfect for that. With out knowing the specific details, it looks like a mistake to me.

It was broken and they didn’t feel it was necessary/cost effective to repair it. They’ve purchased another engine instead.
