#2 by Bill on June 30, 2018 - 6:29 AM

#3 by Eric Haak on June 30, 2018 - 6:26 AM
I was in town last weekend and one of these was still at headquarters and one was in Station 4 on 25th Ave. I didn’t see any others at the other houses.

Thanks Harry

They are probably sitting at the dealer because they are not paid for. The City of Gary was caught misappropriating funds for many years and it is coming to a head right now. It would not be shocking that Global has 4 Blue over Red Demonstrators.

There is also a ambulance at station 5.
#8 by Al Whitlock on June 21, 2018 - 8:00 AM
There is a engine at station 4 and a ambulance at stations 1 and 13. Engine 12’s 1990 Pierce is still in service as a spare.
#9 by Eric Haak on June 20, 2018 - 1:21 PM
The first engine that was delivered about 2 months ago has been running out of station 1

Gary’s stations numbers changed to a county wide system but the easiest way to identify them is the old numbers.
Station 1 – truck
Station 2 – truck and small squad
Station 3 – engine
Station 4 – ambulance and safety officer
Station 5 – Engine and batt Chief
Station 6 – closed
Station 7 – engine and batt Chief. Sometimes a truck
Station 8 – closed
Station 9 – engine
Station 10 – closed
Station 11 – ambulance
Station 12 – engine
Station 13 – engine
Station 14 – airport arff rig
There are 6 engines typically running everyday. I haven’t seen any of the new ones lettered as to where they are going. I think staffing depends on daily total manpower but I think it’s 4 per rig. If someone works for GFD it would be nice to get some accurate info

Michael m, on this blog read “New Engine for Gary” from 03/20/18. Look at the comments and you will see the history of “Perry Blue” that I had posted.

So Gary Ind seems like an interesting Fire Dept. Could anyone share the makeup of this dept, number of working stations, engine co’s, lad co’s etc in front line service?? Manning? And would anyone know where these 5 new pumps will be assigned? thank you Mike G

Harry, why won’t you go to Gary? They have a great bunch of guys that have always been willing to pull the trucks out for photos.
#14 by MABAS 21 on June 20, 2018 - 11:54 AM
Gary received 5 engines from Pierce

Nice looking engines! I am sure they will serve Gary well! Does anyone know the story behind the paint scheme?
