  Also Elk Grove village township 2006 Alexis Engine was 5 years old when they purchased their Marion Engine in 2011. Elgin IL just replaced engine 2 2009 kme with a 2018 e-one and in 2015 they replaced engine 5 which was also a 2015 kme with a 2015 e-one.

  it is not unusual for departments to have a 5 year old engine or even a 7 year old enine in reserve franklin pk il has a 2013 engine in reserve and 1 frontline and a brand new truck frontline heck Miami dade fl has brand new rigs in reserve and pk ridge il fd has a brand new 17 f550 ambo in reserve as for Wilmette if there reserve engine is a 1996 that is 22 yrs old or maybe they are replacing their pierce tower with an engine

  Wilmette only runs with one frontline Engine company that is Engine 27 which is using a rig that is only 5 years old. Five years is still pretty new for an engine so why replace it so soon? Their reserve engine is a 1996 however most engines don’t go into reserve until they are about 15 to 20 years old. It seems kind of wasteful to have a 5-year-old go into reserve.
  Are they having problems with Engine 27 or does Wilmette just have money to burn?
  There is one other possibility that I can think of, are they be putting Engine 26 back in service? At one time Wilmette ran 2 engines however since 2009 Station 26 has been running with a tower ladder/quint in place of Engine 26 and Truck 26. Since 2013 they have been running with a light-duty squad on EMS calls to reduce the wear and tear on Tower Ladder 26.

  Fire Apparatus Magazine stated that Rockford’s order is for (3) 107′ Ascendant PUC quints 1500/500/25F with delivery in December.

  I am also surprised at Wilmette. I guess Rockford decided to continue to work with Pierce even though their contract with Pierce ended in 2016. I wonder if the new engine and ladder will replace one of the engine and ladders leased in 2012?
