At least 11 people were taken to area hospitals Wednesday afternoon after a minivan and an Aurora Fire Department ambulance collided at Galena Boulevard and West Street.
Aurora police said the ambulance, which had a patient inside, had its lights and sirens activated and was heading west on Galena. It T-boned the minivan, which was traveling south on West.
In the minivan along with the driver was a 27-year-old female passenger, 1-year-old twin boys, and other children 4, 6, 12, and 13 years old. One of the 1-year-old boys and the 12-year-old are being transferred to a Chicago hospital for serious head wounds.
The two Aurora Fire Department paramedics and the patient in the ambulance were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
