Andy, that is probably true that St. Charles wants nothing to do with them. I was still living in the district when they announced they would split with STC and go solo. I know they were mad, especially since they had just bought a new tender, which FRC asked for lol. If you look at the coverage map there are tiny pockets through out STC that are unincorporated. A prime example is off of Smith road by the border of STC and DuPage Airport. STC station 2 is about a mile and a half to two miles away. FRC is about 5 or 6 miles away. That would be easy for them to take over, and wouldn’t add much of a burden on STC. However I am not the fire chief or work for the fire marshals office, so my ideas won’t be implemented, lol.

The problem is, the City of St Charles does not want any part of covering the fire district any more since the split. If Fox River Countryside were to dissolve as a district the State Fire Marshal would be responsible dividing up the district to the other area fire districts. I believe the surrounding districts have had some discussions about how they would like that coverage to go.

Michael, the Seagrave is not frontline. Both stations have Alexis engines, the new one and one from a couple years ago. The rest of the mainline fleet is mostly International/Alexis apparatus. Minus the reserve apparatus, they were all bought when the district broke off from St.Charles. That means the oldest are 7 years old. All of their neighbors have older rigs then that, yet they don’t complain or ask for more money.
I really don’t understand why they just admit this was a stupid idea, that did not have public support to begin with. They need to dissolve and divide up the district with St. Charles, Elburn, and South Elgin. At the very least they need to shrink the coverage area. It is too big for them, and there are pockets of coverage all over the place that can be easily absorbed by St.Charles. Also why don’t they talk to Campton Hills about starting their own district for the town? You have a station right in the heart of it that they could buy off of FRC. Campton Hills is the largest population center for the district, about 13,000 people. Campton Hills also has more ways to get money, like gas stations and a retail corridor on Rt. 64.

They just took delivery of a new engine from Alexis last year! They also got a new ambulance as well. I believe the new engine went to station 1 and the ambulance to station 2.
The other engine that they were running out of station 1 I believe was a 93 Seagrave from Bartlett. I will say that 24 years is old for a frontline engine. The frontline engine at station 2 I believe is a 2014 Alexis.

Anyone have any info on their daily staffing and operations. It sounds like 2 stations. I think they have an engine, ambulance and tender at each. It says they would cut 9 duty positions. How many are there now and is it all part time?
