Curious if anyone knows, what’s the story behind Engine 94’s black wheels?

Spartan changed the cab design of the Gladiator when they made the cab wider for the bigger, size wise engines that came out in the later 2000’s, if you notice, the cab for E119 has a lip that sticks out below the windshield versus the straight down face for E108.
The face, the width of the cab and the headlight housings/trim were all part of this model change for Spartan.

Guys, thanks a lot for the info, what I meant was that the 108’s rig has a slightly different grille/headlights design than the rest of the raised-cab rigs. When you look both at the early (2001) batch of the raised cabs (Eng. 81, 127), and the later 2006 Spartan/Crimson rigs, the 108’s rig looks different than any of these. Found out though that Eng. 19’s rig is the same model. I probably never noticed the difference before, so I thought that I’ve found some oddball.

@ David the first spartan rigs with raised roofs were originally given to eng’s116,117 (2001)and now are with 81,127 then 13,19,91,108 and 122 recived the second order with raised roofs(2001/02) then 13 and 91 got new rigs and 7 and 99 got hand me downs ,and finally 122 got a new rig and their rig is now a spare

They ordered quite a few with raised roofs. 119 which is the last picture has a raised roof.

The Engine 108’s rig looks really interesting, never knew these older Spartan/Luvernes (according to this site it should be a 2002 model) were delivered with the raised roof. Was this a one-off rig?? Anyway great photos & thanks for sharing this!
