This from Steve Redick:
Heavy smoke was pushing from a vacant warehouse in Niles, IL when companies arrived Tuesday evening. All operations were conducted from the exterior and an in-line pumping operation was established due to the building’s location in an industrial park at 7847 Caldwell Avenue. One additional engine was added to the working fire response, and the fire was declared under control within 30 minutes.

This is not criticism! Just pointing out an alternative tactic to consider – using a multi-versal and hitting it from further away.

Very true, Milton. One man’s shitbox is another man’s Ferrari.

That engine looks fie to me. Donald Rumsfeld always said that if you try to please everyone, someone’s not going to like it. Some people hate the new rigs and love the old ones and some hate the old one’s and love the new one’s. The old one’s were new once and the new one’s will get old. If you take proper care of equipment, it should look and perform just as when it’s 10 years old or more like it was brand new. If you don’t bother to do that, it will go to heck in no time and that’s your fault.

Man if that engine looks old, worn out, or beat up to you, you must live in a supremely privileged area that replaces engines on a yearly basis or something. Appearances aren’t everything. If it’s working for them and they like it then who cares if it’s not the newest, shiniest rig.

RPF, that engine was recently refurbed. Why must everyone have brand new looking equipment? Why take an unnecessary jab at Detroit, we all know they are bad shape but comparing Niles to Detroit is a tad ridiculous.

The north shores Detroit??? That first in engine looked older than the abandoned building. Unreal…

I’m guessing the new Niles truck did not get it’s 1st fire action on this one?
Love those Glenview rigs!
