If Rosenbauer has a signed contract with the city of Chicago, they will be building the squads. Just because the Snorkel brand has been bought by another apparatus manufacturer doesn’t mean the CFD can just abandon the Rosenbauer deal. As for sending the current squad Snorkels out for refurbishment, keep in mind they still have Snorkels with two and three decades of service without refurbishment.

I think with the news of Smeal buying the rights to snorkel that the deal with rosenbauer is not going to happen anymore. My guess is that the same order with rosenbauer will be made with Smeal and the current snorkels will be sent to Smeal to be rebuilt and rechassised as spares.

Yep, the new Squads should be on the Commander chassis.

Nice. I like those new ROSENBAUER COMMANDER’s. I saw it on their website but wasn’t quite sure at the time how to get the webmaster to post it.
