This from Martin Nowak:
I was in the area when I saw Ambulance 13 responding. Decided to stop at Stroger Hospital to take pictures after the patient was taken inside.

BG – it has the EQ2B siren.
#2 by BG on April 12, 2014 - 3:44 PM
Does this ambulance still have the same electronic Q siren or did they chang it.

I’ve seen this one in person and yeah it is alright

They’re also still doing remounts with the Braun boxes. My guess is they will use Type I’s (remounts and new) for the busiest rigs and the rest the Type III’s. Cheaper in the short run I guess.

Why are they buying two different style ambulances and not staying with one style for the entire fleet.
#6 by NJ on April 7, 2014 - 8:43 AM
Shane, the contract specifies 70 of these and 30 Type I’s. The current order was for 25 of them.

The extended bumper is where they mounted the missiles to be launched at the A-holes that don’t pull over!!
#8 by Shane on April 6, 2014 - 10:54 AM
How many more of these is the city suppose to order?

Mike – that’s a spotlight on the roof.

Remote control spot light. Go light
#11 by Mike Mc on April 5, 2014 - 10:46 PM
Is that a spotlight on the cab roof or an emiter for controlling traffic lights? Thanks in advance.

It’s the same style bumper they’re using on the remounts. It keeps the siren and air horns recessed and away from damage.
#13 by JS on April 5, 2014 - 5:24 PM
One bonus to the extended bumpers…the air horns are recessed, so they won’t be smashed or damaged like you see on many of the current ambos.

In this case the stock bumpers have been removed to accomodate the air horn and siren assemblies. It appears that it may also be beefier than a stock bumper not unlike the reinforced bumpers seen on many newer cfd rigs, as opposed to the older chrome style…. aaaaand so its easier to hit things.

#19 by NJ on April 4, 2014 - 5:59 PM
BTW, does anyone know the lighting colors and distribution on the rig? I haven’t seen it running emergency mode yet.
#20 by NJ on April 4, 2014 - 5:57 PM
I saw it at St Francis, with other CFD rigs. It was parked between two of them, and looked like the a small toy next to them. How well it holds up………
