Arlington also had one of Palatine’s 1947 General enclosed cab pumpers. It looked like a giant shoe box……long and low. Some mistook it for a Peter Pirsch. Arlington refurbed the entire rig and had it for quite some time. Chuck Kramer told me they sold it to a collector somewhere on the North shore.

Thanks for your help guys…..I am on a scavenger hunt to find old 5 (705) for the upcoming 40th anniversary of the Ben Franklin fire in Palatine. I have for several years been in contact with the Pierceton, Indiana fire department which is the owner of the former Palatine (712) 1969 Seagrave/Pitman Snorkel. Several years back, I talked to the guy who owns old 4 (704) and he is quite proud of that rig…..he said one of the gears was out of it, but was quite happy owning it. Hopefully someone can find 5 for me!

The engine used in the past at the Arlington Heights Fire Academy was a Mack open cab purchased exclusively for the academy from Prospect Heights, NJ. It never saw service as a response piece for the AHFD.

Sure looks like the academy truck. I remember that when it sat at station four along with the old century ladder truck. Wonder what happened to those rigs. Good memories. Used to hangout at that station as a kid.

Is that the old Arlington Heights Engine last used at their Fire Academy in the back of the photo?

Sorry I can’t help you with this particular unit however I do know that Palantine Retired Pumper 704 has been in the St Louis, MO area for the last few years. Has shown up at the Great St Louis Fire Engine Rally many times. Just FYI if anyone is interested.
