A Chicago firefighter is hospitalized after battling a fire at a two-story home near 107th Street and South Indiana Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood Saturday afternoon. 

When firefighters arrived, flames were venting through the roof. Firefighters then began breaking windows on the second floor to provide ventilation. Then there was heavy smoke pouring from the second floor before the roof collapsed. 

The firefighter who was injured was taken to the hospital in good condition and is expected to be OK.  It is unclear how that firefighter was injured and if it was a result of the roof collapse. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A house fire in the 200 block of Hamilton Ave. just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Elgin left one firefighter hospitalized and a home heavily damaged. 

On arrival, smoke was seen coming from the attic, and crews attacked the fire from the inside and found flames coming from the attic, first floor, and the basement. 

The fire was contained in about 20 minutes. 

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury, but no other injuries were reported. No one was inside at the time of the fire. 

Damages from the fire are estimated at over $175,000.

Fire broke out just before 1:15 a.m. on Friday near South Champlain Avenue and East 73rd Street in Chicago’s Park Manor neighborhood. One firefighter is recovering after falling through a floor while working at the fire. He was seen being brought out on a stretcher, but the fire department said he’s in good condition and getting checked out at University of Chicago Medical Center. No one else was hurt, but one person has been displaced.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

A Chicago firefighter was hurt while battling a blaze Monday morning at a home in the Chatham neighborhood after crews were called around 11 a.m. to a three-story apartment building at 8220 S. Maryland Avenue. A firefighter at the scene was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center with “elevated vitals,” officials said and was listed in fair condition.

The blaze was struck out around 12:30 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or how the firefighter was injured, and there were no other reported injuries.

A Chicago firefighter who was seriously injured in a house fire Friday near O’Hare Airport continues to recover at a hospital.

One firefighter was transported to a hospital in critical condition and two others were in fair condition. Two of the firefighters were in the basement of the home, including the most seriously injured, but it was not clear if they went down there or fell through the floor. The more seriously injured firefighter was transferred to Loyola Medical Center for further treatment where he is listed in serious condition. CFD has not identified him by name, but said he’s been with the department since the 1990s.

The fire was in a home in the 8300 block of West Balmoral near the airport.

Everyone in the home did make it out safely, officials said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
