Chicago Fire Department Engine 122 flipped on its side after colliding with a car on the South Side Tuesday night about 11:25 p.m. in the 300-block of East 79th Street.
Police said a vehicle ran a red light and struck the firetruck, causing the fire truck to flip on its side. Five firefighters were transported to hospitals in good condition. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital in good condition.
Police said the driver of the car will be issued traffic citations.

Dan, some of the news showed the car that hit 122, it was a 2000’s style Chevy Monte Carlo. Driver fled but was later captured.

It’s all a matter of physics. You hit a moving vehicle just in the right spot, you’ll roll it over every time. Same thing with Truck 51 (RIP Billy Grant,) and many CFD ambulance rollovers over the decades.

That had to have been a pretty big vehicle to turn that engine over like that
