The calls volume has been increasing over the years with the exception of 2020. We’re on pace to be close to if not surpass 2019s call volume. Over the past 10 years it’s been between 15k and almost 20k calls a year. Roughly 80% are EMS but we do get our fair share of structure fires and other fires. The single axle former T2 has served us well over the years and if I remember right is about 20 years old and will be placed in reserve alongside T21. This will give us both a reserve stick and tower, as the single axle stick is much better suited for maneuverability downtown vs the tower ladders. We are all E-One for engines/trucks and all Frontline ambos are F series Fords, with some E series reserves. We run 3 members per suppression vehicle and 2 medics on the ambos. Many members are medics and almost all engines are ALS, trucks are BLS. We do have all the typical special teams and equipment throughout the department(dive, hazmat, trt, car seat, cpr, TEMS, etc) Not sure how much is public but there’s always talks of additional stations and equipment, just a matter of finding a way to fund it along with the cost of the added manpower required.

Aurora has 9 frontline engines and 3 frontline trucks. They have always used a unique numbering system as it goes by vehicle as it goes in service. The engines are 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 while the trucks are 2, 6 and 11. There is word Station 13 will be built in the near future which will house Engine 13 and Truck 14. The medics/ambulances use the same number as the engine they’re with. Truck 2 is with Engine 1, Truck 6 is with Engine 8 and Truck 11 is with Engine 10.

Sharp looking truck. I wonder how it will hold up with that weight having only a single rear axle.
Aurora has 12 engines, two tower ladders and 1 stick. All AFD engines and trucks are all E-One!
Fires, that I don’t know how many they have in a year. My guess is 80 percent of their calls are EMS.

Sweet, first to comment. I don’t know much about AFD. But, this truck looks really good. I personally love these single axle 100ft trucks. (Boston) style. Not a fan of federal signal, but I understand and appreciate why afd and CFD do it. And all the others. Can someone shine some light on Aurora fire for me? Some stats, how many engines, trucks fires they do.

I would think Aurora is now or close to being an all E-ONE department……..
