This from Daniel Hynd:
The Downers Grove FD and auto/mutual aid companies worked a 2-alarm church fire at 525 63rd St early this morning, 7-29-24. This originally came in as an AFA, and police officers advised heavy smoke was coming from the building. The alarm was upgraded to a structure fire, then to a box, and then again to a 2nd alarm. Westmont and Lisle-Woodridge towers were set up and numerous hand lines used to contain the fire, which was believed to be gas fed.

It wasn’t long ago that pretty everyone around here said mid mount towers weren’t a practical design. Then Pierce unveils the mid mount Ascendant which somehow changed opinions. I always that the rear mount towers were more versatile.

I just looked up this church. It turns out that it is part of the WELS LUTHERAN synod. A synod which my church is affiliated with of as well. So I certainly can feel for these people.

I agree Harry. I hope and pray that this congregation can indeed repair or rebuild.
Nice pictures of the apparatus.
