Mike C. Lincolnshire is another one besides who you listed that had frames and or torque boxes rust out before 15 years. There was / is a lawsuit from this. Like you I have no idea why departments are buying pierce again after the piss poor quality they already got.

What I wonder about, and I could be wrong, is are departments spec’ing rigs and putting it out to bid anymore? It seems a lot of places are making up their mind on a manufacturer and go for it.

Pierce has a way of convincing departments how to buy their apparatus when the department didn’t even have a good experience with the previous Pierce rig. It just amazes me! Why would Bartlett buy another Pierce when the Pierce Velocity was junk when the rig was only 10 years old? I do find it interesting that they are buying a Pierce too when they have a couple new Rosenbauers. Why was Rosie not considered???

Mike,
What I heard for Bartlett is their current Tower 3 has been OOS for awhile and is currently for sale due to a bunch of issues. They bought a e-one midmount for the time being, won’t arrive/be in service for at least 3-5 months.
And, thanks for the update on Elgin & South Elgin.

Bartlett recently purchased a used E-One mid mount. Does anyone know what happened to their Pierce Velocity rear mount tower?
You can also add a second E-One Cyclone pumper on order for Elgin.
South Elgin also has an E-One pumper. I think they went with a Cyclone on this one but can’t remember.

Michael,
Algonquin still is running their current Pierce quint until the new truck shows up then it’s being delivered to a department in Ohio. I heard rumors about Bloomingdale ordering a new tower, but was never able to confirm it.

Nice to see a few Sutphens on the list! Does anyone know if Bloomingdale ever ordered a new ladder to replace the 2015 that is alway out of service? I know they were thinking about ordering a new ladder. When will the Arlington Heights ladder be delivered, 2028?

Pierce still has almost 20 rigs coming to area departments! When will the Algonquin ladder be delivered? I believe they sold the other Pierce. I am guessing they are using a reserve engine in the meantime. Glad Mt. Prospect ordered a new tower. The current tower must have a lot of miles on it. I am surprised they went with a mid mount instead of a rear mount. I know the West Chicago tower came in around 2 million. That better be the Lexus of fire apparatus!

Forgot to add it,
Stickney has a Pierce Ascendant 107’ PUC also on order

It isn’t on order but Riverdale is currently trying to get a grant and then trade the squad in to get some sort of truck.
