When it comes to Chicago, it would be nice to see a few mid mount towers. Maybe then the accidents could occur less often of hitting overpasses.

It’s great to see Skokie getting mid mounted Tower Ladder for a change and for the first time both of their Truck companies are Tower Ladders.
I wonder what prompted the Fire Department to go with a mid mounted Tower Ladder considering that that have been using a rear mounted one for a long time?
I understand that Evanston also has a mid mounted Tower Ladder on order which will be a first for Evanston as to this day Evanston has not owned any elevating platforms at all.
It would be nice to see Chicago order a mid mounted Tower Ladder from E/One as it appears Chicago has extended it current contract about a year ago. If Chicago were to order at least one mid mounted Tower Ladder then perhaps they could convert Truck 34 back to a Tower Ladder as a Mid Mounted Tower Ladder has a lower height clearance than rear mounted one and the Old Tower 34 had some problems with low railroad viaduct clearances in its district which is supposedly the reason why they took Tower Ladder 34 out of service a few years ago. It actually could have been inadequate training on Tower 34’s rig because Tower 34 had been a Tower Ladder for about 30 years before they started having accidents with the Tower Ladder at some underpasses. Either way a mid mounted Tower Ladder should be able to solve the underpass problem.
This might be some wishful thinking however.

No more engine turn gold leaf along the black stripes? Or is this added when the truck is lettered?
