The Snozzle was originally produced by Crash Rescue Equipment Service out of Texas. The Snozzle brand was sold to Oshkosh in April 2011. Alexis Fire Equipment did some of the fabrication for CRES.
At one time there were two versions of the Snozzle, both 50-foot. The ARFF version allowed for use while in Pump-and-roll but restricted movement to 15 degrees left or right. The other version allowed full movement left and right and had one angled stabilizer on each side of the apparatus that extended out and down in a single movement.
The ARFF version could have a piercing nozzle, a water nozzle, a dry chemical nozzle, and/or a video and thermal imaging camera.
The main difference between the Snozzle and the Squrt is that the Snozzle nozzle faces forward. The Squrt usually is a rear-mount with the nozzle stored at the tailboard.

Martin Chicago has the snorkels which is like the squirt but with the basket on it. As you know it’s a lot more versatile than a squirt is. Philly and a couple departments in jersey run squirts. So obviously they do have a purpose

Competition is a good thing. CFD had a few PIERCE ladders several years ago but PIERCE has been ruled out for many reasons. Even a stalwart customer like Milwaukee just recently bought 2 or 3 E-ONE pumpers. Granted they are demos but not PIERCE regardless.

I’m surprised Chicago doesn’t have one or two

Must be the same fire company featured on an A&E show called Nightwatch. This one is replacing the ALF Eagle squirt.
