Palatine firefighters were dispatched for a detached garage fire at 629 Hill Road in an unincorporated Cook County surrounded by Palatine. Multiple neighbors reported heavy fire and the homeowner couldn’t find her daughter or husband. Responding companies reported a large header and the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire. Upon arrival, Engine 81 had a two-story house with an attached garage that was well-involved.
They stretched a 2-1/2 inch line and the next engine took a second line to the C-D corner that had heavy fire as well. Another line was stretched into the house as the fire had spread inside. The daughter was on the second floor and was unable to exit due to the heavy smoke. Firefighters brought her outside and found no other occupants inside.
The fire was contained within approximately 20 minutes with the house sustaining significant damage.

My questions are:
1-Where did the Ferrara that was E81 go? Did it switch with E82?
2-Which engine was the reserve running as? 82 or 84? 81 & 83 are there.
Michael– The reserve engine is ex-Elk Grove. I believe that was documented on this site a while back.

Glad everybody is ok. Interesting looking house though. Nice shots of those apparatus. Looks like a very early vintage QUANTUM there.

Ok engine 81 is the 2011 ex engine 82. I am guessing they had to purchase either a old Mt Prospect or a old Elk Grove Village engine to use as a reserve while they are waiting for the new Pierce. Which company will the new engine be assigned to 81 or 82?
