Tim – Yes, it’s not uncommon to be overweight or really close to max.
Crabby – To my knowledge, this rig didn’t have any known issues. It was just rarely used.
Don’t get me wrong, this type of rig probably serves some departments well, but I can’t imagine many. They really seem appealing to the bean counters but they really aren’t practical is most capacities.

East Dundee did order a Sutphen engine. There 2015 Spartan/Alexis engine got into an accident a few months ago and is back at Alexis. They have a loner engine from Alexis. They are using an HME/Alexis engine which came from Mokena.

Perhaps all of the problems with FORD and the POWERSTROKE engine may have been a major factor along with all of the other mentioned possibilities.

Mike C you forgot one thing. These rigs are usually overweight.

East Dundee used this rig very little
The fact of the matter is that these types of rigs don’t do anything well. Politically, they seem so appealing but they have a tiny tank, minimal ladders, minimal hose, and very limited tools.
I believe they have a new Sutphen engine on order.

I am guessing they are getting a new engine?

Hmmm. Another failed mini pumper experiment at the tax payers expense. Seems like this repeats itself all over the place. Maybe not, but it seems like it.
