From the Wausau Fire Department on Facebook:
We created our very own episode of The Office called “The Fire Department” right here in Wausau Wisconsin! Many of our staff love the original TV show, and with their help we worked tirelessly to create a parody in the same spirit of the original!Last year the Wausau Fire Department secured the SAFER Grant as well as petitioned the city council and was able to add 12 new positions to the department. This is a monumental step forward for our department and we are dedicating this video to the new crew that we have hired so far and will continue to hire to fill these new positions. In the video you will follow a new probationary firefighter as he navigates his way through his new career and tries to find his place in his new department. We hope you enjoyed this as much as we enjoyed making it!

To me, SUTPHEN and SEAGRAVE are a cut above the rest in terms of quality and the prices reflect that. SUTPHEN likely came in for less than SEAGRAVE and perhaps Wausau was one of those customers that got jerked around by PIERCE with rust issues.

A Fire Department with a Sense of Humor!
To get more serious they are lucky to be able to put more people on duty with their safer grant. Two of their 3 Engine companies were actually jump units with their Ambulances meaning that when their Ambulances went out on a run their Engines would go out of service.
As far their current fleet of fire apparatus all 3 of their current front line Engines are Sutphens. Engine 1 and 3 are twin Engines and Engine 2 is really a Quint with a 75 foot mid mounted Aerial Ladder with a Prepipped Waterway and has a camera on the Aerial so that the operator can get a birds eye view of the scene without having to climb the ladder. It is also interesting that they could have ordered Pierce or Seagrave products for their latest apparatus orders as both the Seagrave and Pierce factories are less than 100 miles from Wausau they chose Sutphen which is located in Central Ohio.
While their Tower Ladder and Heavy Rescue and a Reserve Engine are Pierces the fact that all of their front line pumping apparatus are new Sutphens , that definitely says alot for the Sutphen company.
