Sold two of the squads and the third one pulls the hazmat trailer. The concept didn’t work. Staff wasn’t added. Engines were eliminated and a ton of money was spent converting the true trucks into quints. Now they have gone back to true trucks with the two towers and will have one quint. Which will end up in the new station 13 by itself.

I would like to know more about Springfield squad concept? Was it a bust, didn’t work out well for them?

Frontline rigs are pierce. They have quantums, arrow xts, now enforcers, and some older dash rigs. Truck 2 is a KME. They did a referb on a 2000s dash engine a few yrs back. The last order and this current order is pierce enforcers. Yes they had some HMEs years ago. Might be a few left in the reserve fleet. They converted an old hme ladder to a technical rescue truck. They tried the squad concept a few yrs ago. F550s with rescue bodies. Use to run EMS calls for the engines. Haha that’s gone. Didn’t work out.

I’m well aware the ISO ratings aren’t directly based on apparatus. I was just making the statement.
I am inquiring on what year, brands, specs do the SFD apparatus consist of. I thought they have some HME in their fleet? Any info would soothe my curiosity.

Bulldog Charleston South Carolina was ISO 1, see how well that worked out for them.

Iso class 1 doesn’t mean s^&t. Many insurance companies don’t use ISO, they use their own formula to asses risk. In the last 5-10 years or so ISO has been giving out class 1 ratings like candy.

There’s SOOOO much more to being a class one dept than apparatus.

What are you looking for?

Does anyone have a fleet lineup for Springfield?
Nice accomplishment to be at Class 1!

All the new apparatus, engines and trucks will be on enforcer chassis. Sfd used to buy quantums in the past. The last two engines ordered were enforcers. (Not this order)

Where will the new rigs be stationed?
I thought Tower 1 was about 10 years old. I think they KME ladder is about 13-14 years old.
What chassis will be used for the stick and tower? I thought Springfield has a Quantum and Arrow XT chassis rigs. Nice to see a town invest so much into equipment when many towns are falling behind rapidly with aging apparatus.

I was looking at the engine drawing on the Pierce website, no crosslays! Everything is coming off the back. Very short wheelbase (184.5”)for a 750 tank and low hose bed. They also have 4 discharges off the rear. Looks like they changed the compartment on the back of the cab after the initial drawing. Originally it was a short compartment, now a tall one. The crosslay area is used for a little giant and backboards. Looks like a lot of thought went into these units and they will get around nicely with the short wheelbase.

Sorry, it’s actually 5 engines, 1 tower, 1 straight stick quint.

Sharp looking rig! The truck that was ordered will be going to Truck 1. Station 1 will be getting two new rigs! I saw that there are currently two more engines in production at Pierce.

That type of tank level lights are no good. Unless you’re standing next to the rig, all the lights bleed together especially at night.

Looks like a typical urban pumper with proper size dimensions and easy to use features like a trash line, running board hose trough, high visibility tank level gauges, Hi-Viz scene lighting, etc. I think the firefighters will find this to their liking x 6…

They ordered 6 engines and 1 truck.

Looks sharp. Perhaps it’s me but the wheelbase looks a bit short.
