No Harry, the emission stuff picked up steam in 2007 with the introduction of ultra low sulphur fuel and diesel particulate filters. Then in 2010 selective catalytic reduction was added, and that’s where we are at now. The current aftertreatment systems add about 1,200 lbs to the weight of a rig.

They’re probably keeping the 05 because it doesn’t have any of the emissions garbage like the new ones do. Cost to maintain is less and more reliable

I am guessing they are using the 2005 as the reserve engine?
