That was a good guess, Wayne. Pierce posted more pictures of it on their Facebook page today, they added graphics above and below the palm tree graphic, “The Island in the City”.

Good idea about the palm tree. Either that or there are a bunch of people on that dept. from Hawaii or Florida.

My whole life I only used rear mount towers. Almost two years ago we got our first mid mount. I will say, they both have their place. But I DEFINITELY prefer the mid mount over the rear mount. The fire service is definitely going towards mid mounts also. Love it. Hope it serves them well.

My entirely speculative guess is that it’s reference to the fire district being an “island” as it covers two cities that exist entirely surrounded by the city of Chicago.
