From Martin Nowak:
From Roberts Park Minutes:Fleet Status – Ambulance 308 has been sent to Osage for its refurbishment. Expected completion is three to four months out.
When Ambulance 308 is refurbished, a power cot will be added as this is the optimal time to do so. Ultimately, the other ambulances will need the same, but we will have to wait forfunding.

In 2017 and 2018 we rechassised two Med Tec ambulances (a 2006 and 2007) using Foster Coach. We run both daily and now with nearly five years on one and almost four years on the other they continue to work well. We paid half the cost of new and got new chassis with repainted modules and all interior finishes updated. In my opinion it was money well spent. I’d do it again and likely will with our third ambulance.

Hawk, how do you figure you pay 3/4 the price for half the ambulance?

Foster Coach did an amazing job on our Medtec rechassis in 2014. The ambulance is holding up very well and was 1/2 the cost of a new one. May not work for everyone, but it did with us.

Wondering why any Dept still does the rechassis. You pay 3/4 of the price for half the ambulance. Worked in Osage ambulances on refurbs and they don’t do a very good job.

I found out from a friend that they still have two spares. I believe that the 2013 chassis from station 2 is the one that went in for rechassis.

I’ve worked in quite a few Osage boxes. They do a good refurb job. Hopefully it’ll last them many more years.

I think most suburban departments have at least 3 depending on the size and budget of that department also the Fire districts are in the same boat
I know down here in Bourbonnais they have 3 and last time I talked to Chief
keener their ems runs at the end of 2021 were at or near the 5000 mark. This
year they are going to try and pass a referendum for a third time hopefully this will be the one They are a great department and do an excellent job……

One ambulance was involved in accident. Not sure if it’s back or not. Also not clear if the backup spare is still around. If it is, then they have a total of 4 ambulances.

How many ambulances does that leave them with the one being out for refurb?
