first impression is very nice. I’m glad they went with a raised roof over the jump seats. They won’t regret it. My only concern for them is the needless extra length of a top-mount version vs a side-mount. Maneuvering tankers on rural roads and fire scenes/fill sites can be challenging, even with single axle tankers. Probably adds two feet to the wheel base…Oh, and no mars 888 light.

Mike C –
Good question about Welch. They have a website and they say they make apparatus and their facility is still in the same spot. However, I have not seen a new Welch apparatus for many years.

Drew Smith – Is Welch making apparatus still?
The wheels on this rig are the new Alcoa Dura Black wheels. They look sharp!

PIRSCH was king around Milwaukee. I had forgotten 3D and CUSTOM FIRE is still around. Last time I checked REV is HQ’d in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin was also home to Pirsch in Kenosha and 3D in shawanoo.

Besides Seagrave and Pierce, Wisconsin is also home to Marion Fire Apparatus, Custom Fab and Body, and Welch Fire Apparatus (all three in Marion) and Custom Fire in Osceola, half hour north of I-94 along WI-MN border. Custom Fire was the preferred builder of the late FDMH (Mount Horeb, WI) fire chief Chuck Himsel. There have been others too including one purchased by ALF and which then closed due to ALF’s bankruptcy.

It’s hard to tell if the black scheme is also going to the wheels…….

That’s gonna be one beautiful monster. Nice that they are going with SEAGRAVE thereby keeping in the state instead of the other builder along the same highway. 🙂
