Mike Hellmuth – I don’t know what it would cost to repair a rotten torque box, but it would be an incredible undertaking! Just to remove/repair the body, aerial, and torque box, and assuming everything goes as planned which it rarely does, I’d say a minimum of $200,000. That’s if everything goes well. By the time you get this in-depth, there’s a possibility the frame rails have excessive corrosion on them. If I had to guess, based on Pierce’s history, the aerial and frames rails itself probably have limited time left on it as well. I don’t see performing a repair to this magnitude being in the best interest of the tax payers.

Image that.. another biodegradable P brand rig. Lockport had one similar to this but a few years newer that was ultimately scrapped.
