Michael, with the officer probably moving around, and having clipboards and laptops and who knows what else, the line of sight to the mirror from the driver would be blocked a lot of the time. So they move it forward, so it’s on the right side of the windshield.

Michael M, they mount that mirror out because many officers (not all) get lazy and fat and or their head gets real big, therefore blocking the view out of the door mounted mirror. OR, they’re always leaning forward to play on the CAD computer.
