This from Larry Shapiro:
Buffalo Grove police and firefighters were sent to 667 Bernard Drive Saturday afternoon (10/31/20) for a reported dryer fire. Arriving units had heavy smoke and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 Working Fire. The fire apparently originated in the dryer and extended outside of the appliance charging the entire split-level house with smoke. Buffalo Grove units on the scene were Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 25, Squad 25, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, and Battalion 4. They were assisted by Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55; Arlington Heights Engine 4, Ambulance 4, and Battalion 1; Prospect Heights Engine 39; Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51; Palatine Engine 82; and the Buffalo Grove EMA Mobile Com Unit.
Decon procedures and COVID safety measures were abundant at the scene for firefighters and family members.

Thanks Andy,
Any chance that the current Tower 25 and E27 will be repainted to match the rest of the fleet?
Any plans next year to replace the KME Engine?3

The new tower is at Fire Service in Indiana getting some of the upfitting finished there. We’re expecting to do training on it this month, I wouldn’t expect to see it in full service until December some time.
BAT4 is getting replaced with a new Ford Transit van. It is waiting on a couple of items to come in so it can go into the shop for upfitting.

Andy,
When will BG take delivery of the new tower 25? I saw completed photos of it on one of the facebook pages. Also will B4 be replaced anytime soon? and what will it be replaced with?

Typically yes. There are circumstances when they wouldn’t go out of their way to get it. Generally through most of town, A25 would take it with them when they are dispatched into Districts 26, 27, or 28 if they are in quarters. If it’s not possible to get it then, call back personnel, if any, bring it out.

Andy,
So 1 ambulance is dispatched on the initial still and then the other gets dispatched on a working response? This ambulance goes to another station to pick up the squad?

S25 is normally staff when manpower allows. In the case of a Code 4, the second BG ambulance which is due on the Code 4 picks up the squad and takes it to the scene if they’re available and able to do so.

Jim squad 25 is only staffed when they are over manpower. There was a write up a couple months ago here about it. Normally BG staffs an engine, tower, quint and 2 ambulances. Then when they’re over I believe the 3rd ambulance gets staffed first then the squad.

How is Squad 25 staffed? Is Squad 25 also an engine or strictly a squad?
