From Naperville Professional Firefighters Facebook page:
Today (7/6/20) is an exciting day for the Naperville Fire Department! Truck 10 officially goes into service, replacing Engine 10 as the front line fire supression vehicle for station 10.
At the same time, this change will move Truck 5 into “reserve” status and station 5 will switch into Engine 5.

Is there something wrong with the bottom step for the officer? Looks like it got dinged.

Captains staff the Battalion cars, and are the highest ranking officer assigned to 24 hour shifts. Bureau Chiefs work a 40 hour schedule and handle EMS, Training etc.

Quick question. I was looking at the 2018 annual report org chart and realized that there’s battalion chief rank. Who staffs the battalions?

Former Truck 5 and Truck 9 are in reserve. Squads run from St.8 and St.9. New rescue pumper (Squad) is on order from E ONE. Minimum staffing is 44 which means 6 medic units are staffed daily. Staffing above 44 staffs additional medic units and Rescue units. The power shift is still working their Tuesday -Friday schedule during peak hours.

MABAS 21,
Truck 5 is in reserve. I think Truck 9 might be as well but I’m not 100% sure.
They’re still running the Vehicle Rescue program. VR1 is at Station 9 and VR2 is at Station 10.
Their new squad will by a Typhoon chassis pumper with a rescue body, though I’m not sure the exact specs.
They normally operates with 6 Medics, but do operate with one or two Power Shift Medics from 8:30 to 17:00 Monday-Friday depending on staffing. I know they used to brownout Medic 9 if they had low staffing, but I’m not sure if they still do. It seems to be in service most of the time.

I have a few related questions regarding Naperville’s operations. First, the former Truck 5 and Tower 9 are they both in reserve? Second, is Naperville still running with the 2 light rescues and which stations are they located? Naperville ordered a new squad; will it be a rescue pumper? Next, how many ambulances are normally in service daily? Does Naperville “brownout” any due to minimum manning? And finally, does Naperville still utilize the part time ambulance(s) during peak hours? Thank you for your replies in advance.

Austin,
I believe the database is up to date. This tower is in there but it is still marked inactive, so I think it’s delayed by a few days. From what I can tell, whenever an apparatus is gotten rid of, it still remains in the system but is marked as inactive.

This is a sharp looking tower ladder, I’m sure it will serve them well for years to come.
Daniel, not sure if you know or not but is that website up to date? If so, they are sitting on some very old apparatus. I am amazed they still have multiple apparatus from the 80’s still considering Naperville changes out apparatus fairly often.

Mike G,
The database I’m referring to is the Fleet database for the city of Naperville which has fleet numbers and vehicle information for all vehicles owned by the city.

Station 9 switched from a Truck to a Squad at the beginning of May. The plan was for the tower they were using to go into reserve, and I believe that is what happened. Interestingly, this tower has the same fleet number (322) as the 2006 Pierce that was at 9, and that rig’s fleet number has changed to 9322 per the fleet database, so I’m not sure what it’s current status is.

Sharp looking Tower ladder! Will Tower 9 go into reserve as well or will that truck be sold once the new E-One squad arrives?
