So, is it a demo? Sure looks like one. Looks good, too!

John thanks for the explanation. It is all very interesting. I look forward to seeing what Milwaukee does on the next go round. Cheaper isn’t always better my department has found.

Yes a few years back Milwaukee changed their policy on replacing fire apparatus. They did as Chicago does go with the lowest bidder. And that was an interesting time, there were Macks, Pirschs and numerous ones on commercial chassis. That practice drove the shop nuts trying to have parts for all the different rigs. It took a new appointed Battalion Chief assigned to the shop to propose making the buying of new rigs a capital expenditure and signed a contract for new Pierce engines and trucks. The chief also redesigned the rig to better fit the makeup of the firefighters on the department. He speced out a lower hose bed and Pierce advertised and called it the Milwaukee hosebed. They went with the Dash chassis and then later the Velocity and currently the Arrow. The contract has run out and nobody knows what fire apparatus is next, but I can’t see them changing unless they get a great deal. And being that the last few years Pierce has had problems with cracked frames and premature problems with rust. It should be interesting to see it play out. Take care. John

Good looking rig. I have heard a few other times on here that Milwaukee is buying new trucks. Our city manager has no problem buying new equipment because in his eyes trucks are cheap and you only pay once, with people it is a recurring cost every year. I have also heard that Milwaukee is looking to change manufacturers. Does anyone know if this is really true? I know they completed the ALL Pierce fleet a couple of years ago

the quantem is their top model, than the velocity, than the dash cf,
The the arrow xt which is their heavy duty but yet more traditional chasis,
Than there is the impel, enforcer than the shitty saber chasis. If you go on pierce’s web page, you can see the difference amongst the chasis!!

John, I want to say the ARROW is the premium model and the ENFORCER USA step above the SABER which is the low cost standard model. But then again they can be speced any way they want.

Think of it this way, they have less to replace so I guess that’s how they can justify it. Plus equipment gets old regardless of lousy leadership.
I also heard some rumblings that SEAGRAVE was being considered but perhaps that was too much to hope for and I heard that about a year ago.

Why is Milwaukee buying new rigs when they just closed down all those companies? If they have that kind of money, they should reopen some of them. East Moline pumper looks like a demo rig. Like the Enforcer Chassis.

Is that Pierce’s top of the line model? I thought it was the Arrow. I like this chassis better than the Arrow. It seems to me that its built tougher. Rumors are flying that the 3 vendors still in the running for Milwaukee’s new rigs are, Pierce, Rosenbauer and E-one.
