If Pierce is such crap how is it the largest apparatus manufacturer? I’m sure they have had issues have figured this out or are working on it. Seems to me that majority of department continue to stay with Pierce and that says something. For years I remember E-1 being bashed for its inferiority

Pierce used to be a family run business that is most concerned with pleasing the customer.

Trucks are Trucks. It is about service. Depts keep these trucks 20 years in which they need to be worked on. Fire Service is second to none. They are a family run business that is most concerned with pleasing the customer.

Not a good move for Orland. After working out some intial bugs their Spartans have been pretty depedable. They were having warranty issues on their old late 90’s engines that Pierce wouldn’t cover.

Rich – You are 100% right! Pierce is nowhere near what they used to be when it was owned by the family! Pierce has some really awesome concepts! However, they make a lot of inferior products! Their torque boxes are rusty within a few years. The aluminum they use on their cabs and bodies is low quality. Pierce bolts their crappy torque box to their frame rails while E-One’s torque box is actually part of the frame. It cannot be removed. Pierce is a low end builder! Good move Orland!

Well Pierce is having issues with frames rusting out and aerials rusting and there horrible with warranty issues. And Spartan has issues with coolant systems . E-One puts out a great product and Fire Service Inc. which is the rep for around here is very customer friendly and great to work with. I’m sure the Michigan plant is as well. Pierce is definitely not what is was when it was family owned .
