Fox Lake is starting to change everything to red with the neon stripe. The neon stripe is to keep it’s tradition of having yellow on it’s rigs. Even though this site says Fox Lake has 4 stations, only 3 are staffed 24/7. Mabas 21 is correct with station 1 being used for storage. All of Fox Lakes new rigs will be painted red. They bought an all red engine from Gurnee last year and that’s running as their squad.

Are there any plans for Fox Lake repainting newer existing apparatus red? Is their Station #1 only used for storage?

I realize you should never assume, but I’m going to guess that the yellow pays homage to their many years of using that color with white cab tops.

Daniel Hynd, I agree with you the new engine definitely has somewhat of a European look, however I think that is because of the boxiness of the rear of the rig. That is similar to foreign rigs many of which tend to have large roll-up cabinet on the sides. America is going to that style in order to increase their equipment carrying capacity. That rig looks to me like it could probably function as a pumper/squad.

It looks European-ish. I think because of the color scheme
