Which station will it be assigned to? If they were able to find a way to lease this rig, good for them. My guess is it is traditional red since it is a demo and isn’t the chairman of the board who initially picked the color scheme is no longer chairman of the board?

Very impressive looking rig there.

Is it possible that this replaced the chassis they were having issues with?

Maybe they got grants to ease part of the spending

You got me curious, so I dug around their website. The only thing I can find was from the last board meeting where they have an agreement with a bank to lease new apparatus. So perhaps this is being leased from Alexis, and is probably a demo. It would explain why it is red instead of white and green. Or they are preparing for the inevitable of having STC and South Elgin take over the district, haha.

MABAS 21, you took the words right out of my mouth. What are they doing?! They cut their staff and complain that they are broke (which they are) yet somehow have hundreds of thousands to spend on a new engine. I guarantee you before the year is over they will talk about how they need money asap, or more layoffs will come. They already had one foot in the grave, now they have half the body in it.

I agree, I thought that the district put new apparatus purchases on the back burner! What are they thinking!

WTF!!!! Are you kidding me? The district is in extreme financial duress and cannot afford to provide adequate staffing to serve the residents and they’re going to purchase a new engine!?!?!? Shame on the trustees who are extremely irresponsible with the taxpayers money! The residents should be in an uproar with these incompetent idiots who are going to cause the district to fold up!
