Deerfield Battalion 20 requested five ambulances for a one-car crash on the Tri-state tollway this afternoon at Route 22. The ambulances at the scene were Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD Ambulances 19 & 20, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD Ambulances 51 & 52, and Lake Forest Ambulance 422.
Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:
Five people were injured Sunday when an SUV rolled over on Interstate 94 near Lincolnshire. All eastbound lanes were closed immediately after the single-vehicle crash at 2:36 p.m. near Route 22, according to the Illinois State Police. Two lanes have since been opened, but two remained closed as of 6:25 p.m.
Battalion Chief Ken Koerber of the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District said three passengers, two with critical injuries, were taken to Lutheran General Hospital while two others were transported to Lake Forest Hospital. The passengers included at least two adults and some children.

The tollway is a private entity and they have contracts for service with the departments. It is mostly done by who has the best and easiest access regardless of where district or city limits are.

One thing I have always wondered is how FD responses to portions of Expressways and Tollways are determined? Thank you
