Thanks for submitting that article Steve. Do you recall your late father telling you details about the “Civic Center fire”. For example was he on duty during the fire.
An interesting detail that I had noticed is that the date of the fire is day after Snorkel Squad 3 was put in service. If the date of the fire is correct then that would have been one of the first if not the first extra alarm fire that SS 3 would have responded to. All 3 Snorkel Squads were due on all of the 2-11 s city wide. Yes all of the Snorkel Squads were due on the same extra alarms.
