Chicago Fire Boat – Engine 2
This from Steve Redick:
this week I was able to knock a big item off my bucket list … to see the airshow from a boat. I gotta say it was an amazing opportunity, and although photo conditions were tough at best I was able to get some photos from a perspective many never see. We had a close encounter with Engine 2. I gotta say it’s looking very beat up. The paint is fading and all different colors. Got some images of the water display as well as some good views of all sides of the vessel. All of the boat images can be seen here:Steve

@Shane: The boat’s designed to operate year-round, it should be able to go through some 30 cm (11 inches) of ice.

This boat is what, 4 or 5 years old? And it’s looking like crap already? Not a very fitting tribute to Chris Wheatley.

Is E2 used in the winter?

Very nice Steve. I’m not much of a boat or marine type guy but those are the pictures that we all treasure. The rare chance I get to see an apparatus pumping at a muster or some other event, I try to get as close to the stream as I can before getting wet. Plus if it’s broiling hot outside who cares? It would appear you did just that.
