Robbins working fire, 6-7-14

 The Robbins Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3533 W. 135th St yesterday and Engine 2913 found a one-sty frame 25×50 with heavy fire in the rear. With automatic aid responding, which included Calumet Park, Markham, Garden Homes FPD, & Phoenix, they were able to knock the fire quickly. Three firefighters were transported to Metro South Hospital with minor injuries.

Robbins house fire 6-23-13 (rekindle)

The Robbins Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 3702 W. 139th Street Sunday afternoon.  Robbins units arrived on scene at 1308hrs and confirmed a working fire in an old 2-story frame at the back of a bar’s property.  Command requested a MABAS 22 Full Still on Box #2909.  Companies went defensive from the start due to the dilapidated condition of the building and a special call was put in for Crestwood’s Truck and a MABAS Canteen.  At approximately 1700hrs, companies were called back for a rekindle.  Units on scene were Robbins Tower Ladder 4, Robbins Engines 2913 and 2943 and Garden Homes Engine 2543.  Midlothian Engine 2723 was brought in to help clean up hot spots from the opposite side of Robbins’ Tower Ladder.

New engine for York Center

Engine 75 at the York Center FPD has been added to the site. This now completes the transition to an all-Pierce department for custom apparatus.

Robbins Box Alarm 9-29-12

Robbins Fire Dept. was toned out for the structure fire at approx. 1030 hrs on 9-29-2012 at the corner of Alida Ave and Grace Ave. (Corrected address of 14003 S. Grace Ave.) Engine 2913 pulled up to a find a fire in a 1-sty brick, ordinary constructed home. The home did appear to be vacant. The IC requested a Full Still on Box# 2909 at approx. 1035 hrs. The IC requested an upgrade to a Box Alarm on Box# 2909 at approx. 1042 hrs. This was due to poor water pressure, and heavy fire in the structure. In all two lines were used and no injuries were reported. Crews did have a difficult time with this fire due to all the windows having burglar bars and heavy bushes surrounding the house.

Building fire in Robbins 9-19-12

The Robbins Fire Department was toned out at approx. 11pm on 9/19/2012 for a reported structure fire in a vacant house at 137th St and Monticello. On the original tone out along with Robbins, they were assisted by Garden Homes FPD, Markham FD, Blue Island FD, and Dixmoor FD all with engines. Robbins Engine 2913 and Tower 2914 arrived to find smoke pushing from an ordinary, two-flat, vacant building being rehabbed. The crews found the main fire in the 1st floor rear with extension to the 2nd floor.
Command requested a Full Still off Box #2909 which brought in Midlothian FD with a squad, and Palos Heights FPD with an ambulance. Fire was under control approx. 1 1/2 hours later. The corrected address was 3617 S. Monticello Ave.
