New ambulance for Robbins (more)

This from Danny Nelms:

From Robbins FD Facebook page

What a beautiful day here in the Village of Robbins at the Robbins Fire Department. Citizens of Robbins, your new ambulance has made its way home as of this afternoon. Another historic moment here in the village as this ambulance was built for the Robbins Fire Department. From the conversation with the manufacturers way back when to it’s delivery today, it’s definitely been a journey. We look forward to the next steps in the process as we continue to move forward in the journey to provide you the citizens, the best that we have to offer!

Box Alarm fire in Calumet Park, 12/22/18

This from Eric Haak:

Here are some images from a Mabas Box in Calumet Park Saturday morning (12/22) at 12320 S. Page Street. The fire came in at 0600 and the back end of the building was already fully involved when the first companies landed. The nearest hydrant was over 1,000 feet from the structure and companies had to go in line to supply water.

New ambulance for Robbins

Excerpts from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association Facebook page:

On Tuesday, Shaun McCabe from my 17th District office joined Chief Michael Schofield of the Orland Fire Protection District as his department dedicated a recently retired ambulance to the Village of Robbins Fire Department.

Once again, this kind of intergovernmental cooperation is what’s needed throughout our area. The ability for one fire department to provide assistance by dedicating vehicles and equipment to another fire department with lesser financial resources is a program that can and should be modeled by others.

Garage fire in Robbins, 12-27-17

This from Eric Haak:

I made it down to Robbins for a full still garage fire on 12/27. The garage was a larger 20×40 of brick construction and appeared to have had quite a bit of stuff stored inside. Here are three of the rigs that were on scene. It was a tight fit into a dead end so the images had to be taken a little closer than I would have liked.

Robbins Fire Department news

Excerpts from abc7chicago.com:

A firefighter and two residents were injured during a house fire in Robbins on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters found three people had self-evacuated. Robbins FD Lt. Justin Jackson was among those who made entry into the burning home.

“Started to knock the fire down and out of nowhere just a really strong burst of steam hit me in the face. I thought I was on fire,” said Jackson.

He was not, but upon exiting the house others realized Jackson had been injured. His right ear was severely burned. He was rushed to Metro South Hospital in Blue Island with first and second degree burns to the ear, a ruptured ear drum, and smoke inhalation.

Two of the home’s residents suffered burns, both are expected to recover.
