And that’s a wrap! This was a great project that turned out absolutely fantastic! Now that this engine is back at the station, it will get all of its brand new upgraded LED lights put in making this 2004 Spartan/3D look like it just rolled off the showroom floor yesterday!

09/01/16 0930 549 Indian Trail, Round Lake Park,IL

Round Lake and Grayslake responded for a reported structure fire, and found a one-story home well involved. Command upgraded to a box alarm. The main body of fire was quickly extinguished, but the fire had extended into the attic space. Crews attempted to gain access from below, but soon realized that the pitched roof was put on over an existing flat roof, so the only way to extinguish was from above. The fire soon went defensive and Libertyville’s tower was put to work knocking down the fire. One resident was transported for a check up. The State Fire Marshal’s office was contacted for a K9 to check for accelerants, as the homeowner claimed someone set the house on fire.

5-Alarm fire in Salem, WI – 6-8-16

Fifteen fire departments were called to the scene of a five-alarm fire on Wilmot Road in Salem (WI) on Wednesday, June 8th. More than 52,000 gallons of water had to be used to bring that fire under control. The building where it happened is a total loss after the blaze.

There are no hydrants in the area, so firefighters had to bring water to the scene. Water from the lake had to be utilized when the water level in Salem’s water tower became alarmingly low. Officials say if it had gotten any lower, the town’s water supply would have been threatened. That went on for about four hours until this fire was finally brought under control. The fire was contained to just the one building which has about 10 units. The building is a total loss. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of possible heat exhaustion — but no one else was hurt.

New deputy chief in Round Lake

Battalion Chief Joseph Krueger, who spent more than 23 years with the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, has accepted a job as deputy chief, for the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District, McHenry Chief Tony Huemann said.

Krueger was one of the two battalion chiefs who sued the district over their pensions, arguing that the years they spent as full-time administrators should count toward their pensions. Huemann said he was unaware if the lawsuit played into Krueger leaving, and it wasn’t mentioned when he and Krueger talked about the move.

The case still is pending.
