This from Eric Haak:
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday (8/3), the Chicago Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a fire at 3110 W. Fillmore. Responding companies reported a large header and a working fire response was then given. Engine 44 landed first and reported a fire in a one-story, commercial garage. The fire building was less than a half mile directly down Fillmore from Engine 107’s quarters. Engines 44 and 109 were the Still Alarm engines and 23 and 95 were on the box. Engine 99 would also have a hydrant as well. Battalion 14 requested a 2-11 shortly after arriving and gave a size-up of 1-story, 100 x 75, communicating to a 2-story ordinary, 25 x 50 with back porches and fire on the second floor. The first picture you see here was taken 20 minutes in. The fire actually turned out to be in two separate vacant commercial buildings in the center with some exposure to Eddie’s Towing which was largely spared. I heard Engines 5, 18, and 26 sent on the 2-11 so I don’t think 107 ever made it in.

1/17/2016
Around 8 pm reports of a house on fire in the 2800 block of Glenarye Dr. in Lindenhurst began flooding FoxCom dispatch. Lake Villa FPD units arrived to find a large, two-story home well-involved. Companies went defensive and protected exposures on both sides. Mutual aid from Antioch, Gurnee, and Newport arrived to assist, but with a combination of the high winds, extreme cold temps, and the body of fire found on arrival, the home was a total loss. Exposures on either side recieved minor damage. Jeff Rudolph

Images from Tim Olk of the 3-Alarm fire today (1/9/15) in Evanston at 2519 Harrison. There were workers in the house at the time of the fire. Several hours into the fire, a Mayday Alert was issued for an Evanston firefighter. He was recovered quickly and transported to the hospital.
Here’s a brief video segment from Jim McCall

This from Larry Shapiro:
Residents called the Long Grove FD around 6:30 this morning reporting some type of explosion and fire in the garage area of their home at 3238 Victorian Lane. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 prior to the first units arriving on scene. They found all residents out of the home and heavy fire throughout the attached three-car garage and the bedroom windows above. The cedar roof shingles along that side had the roof involved as well. A quick blitz attack was initiated which then allowed companies to make an interior attack. The fire was contained to the area that was involved on arrival with slight extension further into the house.
Companies at the scene included engines from Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Palatine, Arlington Heights, and Wheeling. Tankers from Long Grove, Countryside, Fox Lake, Prospect Heights, Barrington, and Fox Lake responded along with a Deerfield squad and Libertyville, Long Grove, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods ambulances.
Long Grove Engine 55 pulled into the driveway followed by Tanker 55 to supply up to 3,000 additional gallons of water before a supplemental water supply was established. Then Palatine Engine 82, the next engine to arrive, dropped a supply line down the length of the private road from a dry hydrant near Route 53. Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Engine 51 arrived next and established the water supply drafting from the pond.
