Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-31-19

This from Eric Haak:

The Chicago Fire Department continued a busy two days of firefighting in sub-zero temperatures with this Still & Box Alarm at 2949 North Luna Avenue in the 7th Battalion. A working fire was confirmed just before 1:30pm on Thursday (1/31) and the alarm was elevated very shortly afterward. Companies were interior for over a half hour before going defensive and remained on the scene for nearly 4 hours.

Chicago Still & Box alarm fire, 1-2-18 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

Very cold conditions, low single digits. Companies reported what I thought was a kitchen fire with extension into concealed spaces. I arrived about 10 minutes after the box was transmitted and companies had been ordered out of the building. Interesting to watch the small wheelbase snorkel squad maneuver into a very tight area in the front of the building. Many large trees made access for any aerial device very difficult. A tough job for all concerned. All the images and video can be seen here:

Chicago Still & Box Alarm, 5-5-14

This from Josh Boyajian:

Chicago had a Still and Box Alarm Monday night at 1906 N. Kostner. Fire was in a 2-sty frame with heavy fire conditions on the 2nd floor and in the attic. Companies were pulled out of the building during an Emergency Evacuation order then went defensive. 4 handlines were dropped and Tower 14 was on the A side. It took me a while to get there but here are a few shots. I also attached a new decal that was recently added to Engine 91.

It was a busy day in the city Thursday. We were at 125’s house when this came in! Engine 68 made a quick knock of a small fire in the rear!  Here are my first pictures.
