Wheeling and Prospect Heights firefighters were sent to 375 Plum Creek Drive on Tuesday morning after a Wheeling Police Department Community Service Officer spotted heavy smoke from a fourth floor apartment. On arrival, flames and smoke were pushing out of a fourth floor balcony in the center of the building with extension to the fifth floor balcony. Wheeling Truck 24 hit it with an elevated master stream and Prospect Heights Engine 39 stretched a 2 1/2″ line to hit it from the base of the building before crews got into place for an interior attack.
This is the second fire this year in the same building. In March, they had fire in an end unit on the same floor.
Wheeling and Prospect Heights firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 375 Plum Creek Drive Saturday morning. Companies arrived to find fire from a third floor balcony on the south side of the building. The alarm was upgraded to a Working Fire which brought additional units from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Glenview, Des Plaines, Niles, the North Maine FPD, and Northbrook.
Firefighters from Wheeling Truck 24 made an initial transitional attack from the exterior with a 2 1/2″ line at ground level. Companies from Engines 23 and 24 made an interior attack to extinguish the fire within the apartment. One resident was transported to an area hospital.

Firefighters from Wheeling and Prospect Heights responded to an outside fire at 25 Versailles Court Sunday morning at 9:30. Wheeling Engine 23 arrived and reported a fire on the ‘D’ side of the house and upgraded the alarm to a working fire. Flames engulfed the west side of the house along with an outdoor structure, and impinged on the second floor. There was an exposure concern to the house on the ‘D’ side but the fire was contained with what was apparently only damage to the vinyl siding on the neighbor’s house.
Several lines were deployed and Tower 24 went to the roof. The fire appeared to be contained within 15 minutes.
Mutual aid on the working fire came from Mount Prospect, Buffalo Grove, Northbrook, Glenview, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and the North Maine FPD.

Wheeling and Prospect Heights firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire last night (2/5/22) at 8:15 p.m. RED Center upgraded the alarm to a Working Fire prior to the arrival of fire units after receiving multiple calls about a fire at 326 Renee Terrace. At the time of this fire, Wheeling Engine 42 was covering part of Lake Zurich due to a Box Alarm there. They responded to the fire in Wheeling from Lake Zurich.
Wheeling Ambulance 23 was first on the scene reporting heavy smoke and visible flames. All occupants were out of the house. There was a hydrant directly in front of the house with access partially blocked by excess snow near the driveway. Firefighters made entry through the front and darkened the visible flames in short order. Heavy smoke persisted for several minutes as they extinguished the rest of the fire.
Companies on the scene included all Wheeling units, Prospect Heights Engine 39 and Battalion 9, Buffalo Grove engine 26, Mount Prospect Engine 14, Niles Truck 2, North Maine Engine 1 and Battalion 1, Des Plaines Truck 61, and Arlington Heights Ambulance 2 who transported one resident to the hospital.

At 05:07 on Saturday, May 1 Prospect Heights and Wheeling companies were dispatched to an accident with extrication on eastbound Palatine Road near Wolf. First arriving units found a minivan on fire and at least two other cars involved. The scene was located just east of the Canadian National railroad bridge. No one was transported to the hospital despite the damage to the vehicles involved. A Superior ambulance was also on scene as they could not pass the crash scene. I am told they began triage before companies arrived.
