Chicago companies had a working fire @ 3224 s May yesterday. Engine 29 found a 3-sty multi-family with fire in the attic. Engines 28 & 29 each had lines lead out. Trucks 33 & 8 had their mains to the roof with members chopping holes for ventilation. Here are some of my pictures.

This from Drew Smith:
I was a contract FF/PM at the Geneva FD from 12/1/82 until 11/30/89. While I was there I organized this live fire exercise sometime between 1985 and 1988. The location was the east side of Kirk Road north of IL Route 38. At that time the intersection and adjacent area was just beginning to become developed.
In the group shot you can see the current fire chief, Steve Olson, in the red helmet on the left end of the second row. Current deputy chief Jerry Koster is in the red helmet second from the right end of the second row. Then-fire chief Frank Johnson is in the white T-shirt front and center. All of the other officers in red helmets are since retired. Several others pictured currently serve with other west suburban FDs such as Batavia, Carol Stream, Oak Park, Saint Charles, and Naperville.

ABC Chicago has an article HERE.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said a southside warehouse that caught fire Tuesday night will be a total loss.
“Totally involved. … This is a major fire,” read a message posted to Twitter at about 9:50 p.m. Moments later there was a message that a portion of the structure had collapsed.
Firefighters were in “defensive mode” in attacking the fire in a building on the 3700 block of South Ashland Avenue, spokesman Larry Langford said.
But despite his initial, confident remark that the fire would be isolated, flames spread to at least one nearby building. The owner of a printing company, at 3801 S. Ashland Ave., was on the scene and expressed concerns about chemicals inside that could explode.

This from Eric Haak from the 3-11 alarm fire:
I got there just after the box. I am sending you 9 shots. Below is a timeline of the fire. Photo credits to Eric Haak.
At 1424hrs Saturday, Engine 120 reported smoke from the 5th floor of a 5-story condominium. At 14:34, the 21st Battalion requested a Still and Box alarm followed by a 2-11 alarm at 1442hrs. At 1444hrs, a Mayday Alert and an EMS Plan I were called for by the 21st Battalion. At 1449hrs, the Mayday alert was secured. At 1459hrs the fire was elevated to a 3-11 alarm and around this time, companies were evacuated from the structure and the attack was made defensively from this point on.
Picture #1 – just before the 2-11 was pulled. Picture #2 – taken as the Mayday alert was called. Picture #3 – RIT team of Truck 40 preparing to enter the building on the Mayday alert. Picture #4 – companies operating in the courtyard. Picture #5 – A DDC works the fireground. Picture #6 – Companies play water through windows from the courtyard. Picture #7 – TL34 operates in the driveway southwest of the fire building. Picture #8 – Multiple lines being used. Picture #9 – Self explanatory
